Hi! I’m Chari Pere. (In case you’re wondering*, it’s pronounced like ‘Shari Pair’).

I started drawing people at the tender age of 18 months and I haven’t stopped.

My mission is to create heartfelt, funny, and relatable cartoons.

I’ve worked as an in-house illustrator/storyboard artist at an ad agency while working on such accounts as Red Bull, Jockey, and Wise. I’ve created content for major publications such as The Washington Post’s The Lily and Mad Magazine. I’ve collaborated with such people as #1 New York Times bestselling author Gretchen Rubin and actress Mayim Bialik. I’ve storyboarded for such companies as Comedy Central, Bud Light, and Purina.

Mental health is an important issue for me. I’ve taken difficult situations and experiences, and have transformed them into meaningful art. My “Cartoonmentary” comics tackle taboo topics such as miscarriages and Down syndrome. My “Corona Mama” comic series helps parents cope with parenting during a pandemic through humor. My collaboration with comedian Angelina Spicer touched upon postpartum depression and breastfeeding awareness. I started my own “15 Minute Musings” project,  in which I draw for at least 15 minutes a day, as a way to conquer my own battle with postpartum depression.

My cartoon hug drawing of Robin Williams’ beloved characters went viral the day that the world so tragically lost him, when we all needed one big hug.

I am a people-person and love collaboration! I enjoy a good creative brainstorm and problem-solving session. As a mom of three, I’m a pro at a multi-tasking, and always bring my special brand of Chari Pere™ enthusiasm to the table.

Fun facts: I love Miniature Schnauzers, chocolate, vanilla chip ice cream, Jacaranda trees, the smell of jasmine, chocolate, sunrises, sunsets, palm trees, chocolate, running, hiking, baseball, basketball, and chocolate.

I live in New Jersey with my voice-actor husband Eli**, who is a fantastic partner and editor of my personal comics, and our three kiddos.

*...and are too ashamed to ask after knowing me for 20 years... ;-)
